Alex Paat is a visual artist who uses ceramics and neon to examine connectedness, generativity, and the mysterious joy of life. He holds a B.A. in Studio Art from Cedarville University (OH) and an M.F.A. in Ceramics from the School for American Crafts at Rochester Institute of Technology (NY).
After completing a year-long assistantship to potter Justin Rothshank in 2020, Paat worked as a designer for Mayco Colors and was actively involved at craft schools across the Eastern U.S. as a work-study student, artist-in-residence, and teaching assistant. In 2025, he was accepted into Haystack Mountain School of Crafts’ inaugural Artist Grant Initiative Cohort.
Currently, Paat maintains an active exhibition schedule and serves as the 2024–2026 Student Director at Large on the board of NCECA (National Council for Education on the Ceramic Arts). He works in Columbus, Ohio, where he lives with his wife Shannon and their son.
